Trucks leaving from Lincoln Park for Katrina Survivors — How to Help Load them Up

I received this e-mail from my alderman, Vi Daley, via her listserve. (I have to say this reminds me of one of The Onion’s Katrina headlines — “Area Man Drives Food There his Goddamned Self.”)

“Thanks to your incredible generosity, four 26 foot trucks left for Mississippi on Monday afternoon. Thank you for your donations, your time and effort and your amazing response.

All of the trucks were filled to the brim with supplies to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The trucks visited three towns and were the first supply trucks to reach them. Laurel, Mississippi was the first stop we heard about. The area was devastated and the supplies you sent were most welcome. Two more small towns and the same devastation and need were encountered by the drivers making the trip. So, they
