Trapped in the Loop

I had a series of meetings downtown last night that ran late, and was really excited to hop in my car and get home. I was thoroughly convinced that my dog had strewn trash all over the house in anger for not getting her usual amount of nightly attention. I drove down Washington to get on 90/94, but the bridge was out. I followed detour signs to Madison to hop on the entrance there, but that one was also closed. wtf? So I drove down to Monroe and, again, closed. I had to drive all the way down into the loop, head about a half mile east, hop on Congress, and head west again to get on 90/94.

Anyone have any earthly idea why EVERY SINGLE northbound exit out of the loop was closed last night?
