Oh, you wanna talk about a collapse…
White Sox fans know exactly what I’m talking about. The Sox have seen their 15 game lead, which they held as recently as August 1, dwindle down to only 3 1/2 games. For those non-baseball folks out there, this is really really really bad. Spectacularly bad. Especially since 6 of the last 14 games, including the last 3 of the season, are against the Cleveland Indians…the team right on their tails. The team that is as hot now as the Sox were in the beginning of the season. It is quite possible that the Sox, the team that has been in 1st place all year…might not even make it to the playoffs. This was incomprehensible earlier in the season. But now it’s completely, entirely, possible.
Cubs fans always hear about how the ’69 team blew an 8 game lead to the Mets, but this is 15 games we’re talking about here. Yikes. Sox fans, hang on to your hats. And remember, if things fall apart, if things go really really badly, take it from me, a Cubs fan…there’s always next year.
Yes, I am commenting on my own post. Not because no one else has, but because of a crucial update: the lead is now down to 2 1/2 games (!) after their loss last night to the Indians. Hey, the people gotta know.
No shit, last night’s game wa close. I’m going to tomorrow’s. Go White Sox!

TT! I feel for you. Maybe you can kick their asses into gear. Don’t forget to bite your loved one for good luck…
