The Power of (the Online) Place
One of my new favorite sites to poke around on is EPodunk. It’s like an almanac only cooler. They’ve got stuff like this map of the post-Katrina diaspora. They culled it from the “safe” postings in the days following the storm.
Another example of stuff you can check out is their “Cities with Mo’ Joe” map of Starbucks density. Or, they’ve got vintage post cards from all over the country that you can send like this one below of Lake Shore Drive near Lincoln Park circa 1900.
The site’s slogan is “The Power of Place.” Indeed.
