We all know that “busking” is street performance for donations, right? I mean Chicago has been home to both BuskerFest and Busker Soundcheck and yet every now and then I say “busker” or “busking” and I get that extra blank stare that makes me worry that my foreign upbringing is attacking again and that I’m using a word that just doesn’t exist on this side of the Pacific (like “capsicum” for “green pepper”).
