Durango?

Lately I’ve been noticing liquor delivery trucks with a huge ad on the sides proclaiming that Durango Tequila is The Spirit of Chicagoland. Bold words for a liquor I’ve never heard of. Even bolder, considering the only information I can find about the brand include comments like:

As I write this, I am taking shots of some really horrific Durango tequila. It comes in a plastic bottle, and it costs $7.59 a liter. I am cutting it with Mountain Dew, and I am drinking each shot over my kitchen sink, just in case I vomit. — Merrick’s blog

and

I’m not sure Durango Tequila actually qualifies as tequila. It smelt more like a gin and something-very-very-bad combination. — thetap

Fuzzy, a long holiday weekend is upon us. What better opportunity to taste test the tequila in question? You’ll have plenty of victims, what with family in town. There’s plenty of time to recover. And, at less than $8 a liter, it fits the blogger budget.

Go forth and imbibe, and please, take lots of pictures with which to amuse your readers, assuming you survive the experience.

No thanks — I’ll be in Austin, TX for Thanksgiving, drinking Tito’s Handmade and Shiner Bock.

Fuzzy -random note- there is someone who distributes Shiner Bock in the midwest. They serve the beer at Harry’s (www.harrysbarandgrillmilwaukee.com) in Milwaukee and I bet you could call them and find out their distributor and purchase some here if you so choose. If you’re not that interested, fair enough, it’s just that I had to find it for someone at work and thought you might like that tidbit. There was a bet made, $1 was won by me, mostly I did it for the gloating rights though.
