Life imitating Seinfeld
Seen while driving to a meeting last night – two cars stopped in a dead standoff over a parking spot on Damen, just north of Milwaukee and North. One car had half of their car backed in, and one had the front of their car pulled in. both of them just sat there, patiently, waiting for the other to crack. Eventually, the car pulled in head first relented, spent an overly-dramatic amount of time pulling out, and stopped (with quite a queue of traffic behind her) to shot the other driver a dirty look. Excellent.
I have been there. And were I to be the judge, I would tear the parking space in half and the rightful owner wouldn’t want to see one less parking space in this city.
OK seriously, I never took Driver’s Ed, but I always thought to properly parralel park, you back into a space. So clearly, the person backing into the space should get it. Screw the woman who tried to snake the space away by coming in from the rear. That is playing dirty.
That’s one of the unwritten rules of driving: never try to steal someone else’s spot. I hope the woman who was in the wrong ended up spending another few hours looking for another spot.
What?!?! Nobody put up their lawn furniture to save the space. Good God people, we’re in CHICAGO!
