Grizzly Man

Who doesn’t love the beautiful violence of football on a cold Sunday afternoon? Who doesn’t love the brutality of a forearm shiver or a limp and broken quarterback being carted off the field? Come on, who here has not gotten drunk and taken their shirt off in sub-zero weather, snarling and woofing like a rabid dog?

Okay, I haven’t, but I’ve watched those fools on the television whilst sitting in the comfort of my home drinking a Bailey’s and coffee, and they deserve to be pummeled by somebody.

As much as I’d like to write about that documentary “Grizzly Man,” I can’t find a Chicago connection, so this one will have to be about the Bears. That’s right, the Chicago Bears, playoff-bound and poised for greatness. This doesn’t happen very often around here, and as one who didn’t get to (chose not to) get worked up about the White Sox (for obvious allegiance reasons), I have to say that the situation looks good for our lone football team to continue the championship drive.

Will they do it? I predict nothing less than victory, or something close to it. Good defense beats good offense every time, or so Phil Jackson once told me, and so I don’t see why they won’t do it. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself! Or a significant injury.

    Da Bears!

If Da Bears truly wanted to guarantee victory, they would put Ditka back in the lineup.

    Da Bears!
