Kaze? eh….feh.

OK, so it took me 10 months, but this is in follow up to Fuzzy’s previous post mentioning Kaze Sushi. Ever since they opened last year, I have been trying to make it there for a good meal. Besides the fact that I love sushi, I also love only having to walk 3 blocks. I finally had all of my sushi dreams come true tonight when, instead of the gyro that I *really* wanted, we decided to get some delivery from Kaze.

I wouldn’t consider myself a sushi master by any means, but I have had quite a bit of sushi from all over this city. I wouldn’t call Kaze subpar – it was OK – but it was just par for the course. Nothing special. Brianne and I ordered 3 rolls, and it came delivered to us all in one container, and with one set of chopsticks. That’s a lot of sushi for one person. Luckily, I stockpile chopsticks so I grabbed a set from the kitchen drawer. Their spicy salmon roll was good, but the dragon roll was really fishy (not the good fishy, the bad fishy). The nori on Brianne’s roll was so stiff that she had problems biting through it. The worst part came at the end of the meal – I was starving! It doesn’t take a lot to fill me up because I eat lots of little meals throughout the day. For me to eat an entire meal and still need more is saying a lot.

We packed up the trash, and I said “Well, that sucked.” Brianne responded, “Yeah. So what’s for dinner?”

On a side note, I will concur with Fuzzy on the main purpose of his previous post – Tanoshii is excellent.

I will have to check out Tanoshii… Since I live in the south loop, I tend to frequent Oysy over on S. Michigan. They have some really outstanding rolls… yum! They have another location open on Grand now, but I don’t think it’s quite as good as the Michigan location.
