This is gonna sound weird
But does anyone know somewhere (in Chicago proper – not the burbs) where you can take archery classes or just go out and shoot some arrows? I’ve been trying to find something, but most classes are WAY out in the burbs (Bolingbrook).
Lauren – Have you seen “Weatherman”?
Indeed I have. And that is part of what prompted this :)
I have to say, for as much as the movie made me go “meh”, the bowhunting parts were HYSTERICAL.
You want to hit up the Archery Custom shop in Forest Park. In October I went on about 10 deer hunts over two weekends and the guys at Archery Custom hooked me up with everything. They’ve got an on-site instructor, archery range upstairs, and lessons for pretty dirt cheap.
Just as long as you don’t mind hanging out with some pretty scruffy lookin dudes and a few off-duty cops. Everyone who works there is really awesome and nice, just have some patience when you walk in … they kind of take their time with everything. Been around since the 70s…

There is an archery range along the lake near belmont harbor. I googled it and came back with this:

With Lincoln Park archery you have to fill out a bunch of forms (justifying why you want to be an archer… is that a word? archer? that sounds weird to me in this moment), and pay dues before you walk through the front door… seems like a pain in the ass unless you’re really serious about it…
Does anyone know where i can take archery lessons out in the NW burbs?
