Native Chicagoan Shani Davis, whom Lauren shouted-out in her post “Hometown Olympians” won the gold medal in the men’s 1,000 meter speedskating race.

CBS2 reports that Davis donned a White Sox cap soon after his victory. CBS also reports that Davis is “the first black to win an individual gold medal in Winter Olympic history.” Bryant Gumbel was not available for comment.
