Got a Ticket
Just thougth I’d share with everyone that I got a ticket. It’s a ticket for talking on the cell phone. Now, I know that everyone says “I’m innocent” but I really was!!!!
I got the ticket while I was backing into a parking space off of Diversey Ave. The cell phone was in my ear, but it WASN’T ON!!!! I had put the car in reverse and put the phone to my ear and planned on putting the car in park. Then I was going to call my friend whom I was picking up to tell her to come downstairs. But, the fuzz pulled up and ticketed me.
I then got a ticket for driving without insurance! My insurance card expires in June of 2006, but the guy must have thought it said 2005. I didn’t realize that I had gotten 2 tickets until he drove away leaving me completely stunned! Let’s just say that I will be in court!
I like it!
same thing happened to me….2 tickets- 1 for cell phone, 1 for insurance. bring a headset and your insurance card to court and as long as you have a clean record, you should be able to get off…..I did!
So….you’re complaining for being caught violating two laws?
Nope – complaining that I was given tickets for supposedly violating 2 laws when in reality I didn’t (can’t get a ticket for being on the cell phone when the phone wasn’t even ON and can’t get a ticket for expired insurance when the insurance expires in June 2006 NOT 2005!)
But you said yurself the phone was at your ear; whether or not the phone was one is inconsequential to an observant officer, who rightly ticketed you. My apologies for misreading the insurance part.
If I had a dollar for every time I saw someone go through a red light while talking on the phone I’d have enough money to pay for your tickets. I am all for this law being enforced, I just wish they would ticket people who are in actual moving cars while talking (without a headset). This is progress, though, I didn’t think they were ticketing anyone! (sorry, CC)
I think you should fight the talking thing – i am planning on using that as my defense against this stupid law if i get “caught.” I really wonder if it says anywhere in the print that holding the cell phone near your ear is a violation. What a dumb, dumb law – outlaw the radio, food, daydreaming if you want to outlaw talking.
