Oh daycare centers. Lordy.

I spent the entire day today researching, calling, and visiting preschools and daycare centers. Are people in this city actually putting their kids in daycare? Who goes through this craziness when trying to find a good place that doesn’t require signing your kid’s soul over as a depost?

JC man! I’m a single mom. The most reasonable place I found today required a $150 registration fee, a $300 deposit, and one month’s tuition of $1040 up front.

What the??! Who can do this?

All I want is a positive, safe, creative, diverse environment with people who will care for my child and keep her happy. Where’s the happy medium? If I don’t do private daycare (above), the other options are, well, crap.

The irony? I’m not poor enough to put her in Head Start and they have the best centers around!

When do things get easy?

I’m 30 weeks prego, and starting the same process. Would you be willing to post your findings? There are almost too many resources on the web, and my head is a’spinning.
