Overheard in Chicago

So, I subscribed to this blog’s ATOM feed a while ago. So far, I haven’t found it too funny. Right now, I think it’s showing off another side of Chicago–our problems with Race.

Now, take for instance this post

Security: “Who’s coming?”

Man: “Yeah, yeah. Ching chong ching chong. Hurry the fuck up!”– submitted by Jon P.
I realize I am sensitive to race relations; at the same time, I am simply commenting on a number of the “jaw dropping” comments this blog seems to rack up. Is this an accurate representation of our city, and our suburbs? Or I am just not seeing the funny here, just like with Larry the Cable Guy?
I don’t see the funny there at all. In fact, there were more that were pretty racist as well. There were some “submissions” that were jokes I’ve heard in other places before–they were obviously not something really overheard. Overall, pretty lame.
Well it’s not nearly as funny as all the quotes that suggest domestic violence. Ahem.
Also, what’s with the “overheard in the bedroom” submission? Was that the woman who submitted it or was there someone under the bed?
I heard about this site and used to check it out once in awhile but that Asian comment was just too much. It really bugged me for some reason.
I can’t imagine anyone finding humor in that.
