Cubs v. Sox – in caricature

Those crazy kids over at Leo Burnett have whipped up illustrations of the typical Cubs & Sox fan. HIGH-larious. Although, seriously, what is it with the stacking of beer cups? Is that supposed to be impressive? Because I think it makes you looks like a slob.

I must say I can’t agree with either drawing. I have been going to Cubs and Sox games for many years, and have seen many different types of people at each park. They both do their share or whining, crying, bitching and drinking. Both fans can be assholes, wear suits or be nice enough to buy beers for the entire section.

Caricature: A representation, especially pictorial or literary, in which the subject’s distinctive features or peculiarities are deliberately exaggerated to produce a comic or grotesque effect.

I think they are hilarious. And the double-stacked cups is SO true. As someone who married into a Sox family (thus having to succumb to way-too-many games for way-too-many summers before I got out of that debacle), and being that I love to get my drink on, there were many a time I found myself double, sometimes triple stacking. Hey, at least I’m not throwing empties into the aisles in front of me or leaving them crumpled under my chair. At least during the game, haha.
