A Note to Republicans from the Chicago Tribune
As the Republican strategy for 2006 and 2008 takes shape, the Tribune reaches for its shovel.
Today finds not one but TWO editorials in the Chicago Tribune attacking the GOP.
Both are titled “Note to Republicans: The Party’s Over.”
Clarence Page subtitles his article “Will hot-buttons issues be able to save Bush & Co.?”
Nikkos can field that one: NO.
Garrison Keillor subtitles his “Ineptness has ruined the GOP.”
To which nikkos would add: incompetence, hubris, dishonesty, bigotry, criminality and a complete and utter inability to govern have ruined the GOP.
Ah, how times change.
I suppose the Trib’s writers do deserve credit for at least having the capacity to change their minds and call bullshit when they see it. I guess the Trib has finally decided it won’t get fooled again, and again, and again.
Cross-posted to my friends call me nikkos.
A minor, but important, distinction: These are op-ed columns, not editorials. Editorials are written and endorsed by the editorial board (and live on the other side of the page). These are simply columns.
Fair enough, and a good point.
Since we’re getting technical, Clarence Page is a senior member of the Tribune editorial board, so presumably he had a hand in the editorials I linked.
Thanks for your comment.
Yes, Clarence Page is a member of the editorial board. He very likely had a hand in the original editorials that you linked to at the end of your post. But it doesn’t change the fact that your post is factually incorrect:
“Today finds not one but TWO editorials in the Chicago Tribune attacking the GOP.”
Those are not editorials. They are op-ed columns. Editorials are on the left and they say “Editorials” above them.
Yeah, you mentioned that already.
Once again, nikkos interjects his theories/opinions as fact; hoping that by saying it outloud, it will come true. Good luck with that! Be sure to shake up the magic 8-ball and see what it tells you.
Gabe- your comment was intended for the PBR post, right?
PBR, yeah that’s it.
