Machine Politics

I have but one observation in regards to the news that Lil’ Stroger will replace Big Stroger on the ballot for Cook County Board President, despite having never faced the electorate: dynastic politics- whether it be Bushes, Clintons or Strogers- is bad for American democracy.

Didn’t we already fight one revolution to rid ourselves of this nonsense?

This is undeniably a new low for Chicago/Cook County politics. The Trib had an editorial on the subject this morning and it’s one of the first times I’ve ever found myself agreeing with their editorial staff.

This maneuver is THAT universally reprehensible.

I am glad you tackled this one instead of me. I find Stroger, and his ilk, to be repugnant. However, a vote for Stroger will keep my job relatively intact. A vote for Perica is not a guarantee that my job won’t be on the chopping block. Republicans are not known for support social services. I, personally, cannot vote for any of the candidates on the ballot so far.

One big train wreck. Just sit back and wait for the crash, of course which the voters will wind up paying for in one way or another.
