The Blacks
Leave your mainstream country music at home and welcome Chicago favorites and Bloodshot country insurgents The Blacks as they return to The Empty Bottle this Saturday for their first live show in six years. The band, formed in Chicago in 1994, toured extensively and were a fixture on the alt-country scene until their demise.
Original members Danny Black, Gina Black, James Emannegger and Nora O’Connor will grace the stage with their boisterous mix of rock ‘n roll, country blues and messed up cowboy thrash. Expect rambunctious drums, Gina’s distinctive stand-up bass with gritty and brash vocals at this sure to be sold-out show.
If you miss this show you can still catch Danny Black’s Healthy White Baby and Nora O’Connor around town. HWB released their debut just last year and Nora with one album to her credit can be seen and heard with many performers including Andrew Bird, Chris Mills, The New Pornographers and others.
