Feed your inner science nut

This past Friday kicked off the Chicago Science Expedition, a city-wide program that aims to “inspire children to be scientists every day, challenge adults to inquire about the essential role that science plays in our changing world,” and just generally get folks excited about science. Anything that encourages curiousity and questioning the world around us is all good with me. Events continue through October 8. Today’s line up:

Animal Encounters
Shedd Aquarium–1200 S. Lake Shore Drive
Meet an animal close up. Explore your
connections to animals such as cockroaches, frogs, turtles, snakes and more during a
live animal program. $. All ages.

Getting Excited about Science
Chicago Public Library: West Chicago
4856 W. Chicago Avenue
Scientist Steve Belliveau will present a special program based on the themes of paleontology, chemistry and Fermi’s work. All ages.

6:00pm
Science Café
Starbucks–5300 N. Clark in Andersonville
Come to Starbucks and have a discussion with a
scientist! Kelly M. Fahrbach, Ph.D. Researcher at the Hope Lab at Northwestern University
Medical School will talk about her research on HIV. All ages.

6:30pm
