Sonotheque is hosting a tribute to the late legendary Syd Barrett tonight called Shine On. Barrett was a co-founder of Pink Floyd, and an influence on such notable artists as “David Bowie, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream, The Soft Boys, Hawkwind, Flaming Lips, Will Oldham, The Young Knives and numerous others.”

The event will showcase “Syd’s strange palette of sounds, cover versions of his works and sonic beneficiaries.” Rare video footage of Syd will also be shown, including: “Arnold Layne promo video, Jugband Blues promo video, Look of the Week footage (1967), Apples and Oranges from American Bandstand, Top of the Pops performance, Scarecrow promo video, Syd Barrett’s First Trip, Let’s All Make Love in London, The Pink Floyd & Syd Barrett Story/BBC documentary, Robyn Hitchcock performing Dominoes and It Is Obvious and Graham Coxon of Blur performing Love You.”
