The clock is ticking.

Today, the Doomsday Clock at the University of Chicago was set forward, and its current time is now five minutes to midnight.

Having missed out on much of the Cold War-era hysteria, I was never familiar with the Clock. Has anyone ever seen it? When is the last time it was moved? Sheesh, what an ominous way to start the day …

    1. “Has anyone ever seen it?” – It’s not a real clock. It’s a symbolic clockface.
    2. The last time it was moved was in 2002 from nine to 7 minutes to midnight, when the United States rejected a series of arms control treaties and announced its intentions to withdraw from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty (Thanks, Dubbaya!).
