Chicago Day
‘XRT has declared* today “Chicago Day” and is playing songs about Chicago, songs by Chicago bands, and clips of famous folks saying how much they love Chicago all day.
* I suppose they have as much right to declare something as any of us. But they missed the city’s birthday by 3 days. Happy 170th, Chicago.
(Thanks, Erica)
guess you all did as well. I’m sure XRT knew when chicago’s anniversary was.
There’s a Shins song about Chicago, right? I hope so anyway.
How right you are, You Too. When I point one finger, I’ve got three pointing back at me. And my thumb is sort of pointing at your shoes.
Maybe they’ll play Chicago by Sufjan Stevens. Don’t count on it, and if they do it will probably be at 1 a.m. so it doesn’t get in the way of Dave Matthews, Tom Petty and John Mellencamp.
Actually they play quite a bit of Sufjan Stevens.
Zippy, I just went down the playlist for the last 24 hours on XRT, no Sufjan. A few decent artists on the list, but very, very safe choices. So when are they actually playing him? Seems the best songs are played in the middle of the night. FYI, I’m no huge Sufjan fan, obviously his song “Chicago” would have fit in the other day (and I couldn’t check the playlist for Chicago Day).
I’ve heard Sufjan for the past year and a half on XRT at all hours of the day, it’s the chosen station at work which is better than listening to Fallout Boy(21st century’s answer to Backstreet Boys) at Q101. I think in the past year, they seem to be opening up the playlist more, I heard Peter Bjorn and John and at least 3 different tracks from the new Arcade Fire album. It makes sitting thru DMB to get to those at work.
